Radio interview, questions and advice

I did a quick interview last night for Nick Margerrison's show on Kerrang FM, and answered a few questions from callers. An unlikely platform for discussing porn addiction, but it was fun to do and I'm pleased to be pushing the issue out to different audiences.

The whole topic was treated with genuine interest, and attracted a raft of texts and emails from listeners during my very brief time on air. Some common questions were raised by listeners: how to stop wasting most evenings surfing porn, how to begin to salvage a relationship after discovery of a porn habit. It's difficult to respond fully in such an arena, but hopefully I gave some good pointers.

My thanks to Nick for inviting me on, and great to see further interest in the realities of the porn addiction problem.

When talking with my colleagues about how the various uses of our internet hardware products, porn is mentioned but it is always "someone else" who consumes it not us. Given that it is a multi-million pound or dollar industry and that there aren't too many rich people then it has to be a lot of consumers that created this market. I'm sure that there simply aren't enough examples of the stereotype of a young single male or dirty old man to make up this entire population. So there are many so-called ordinary people affective and therefore I think you are spot on to use popular radio station to tackle what is a growing epidemic. Congratulations on a brilliant website that tackles a real problem that no one else has seemed to be brave enough to handle.

You've hit the nail on the head there. Despite numerous surveys and polls, the stigma that surrounds this problem makes it practically impossible to gauge just how widespread it is. I'd completely agree with your logic. The range of people that I communicate with on a daily basis proves that no stereotype applies... which is a reassuring basis for facing up to the problem.

Thanks for the words of support too :)
