Help for girls addicted to porn

I'm a girl addicted to porn and I want help. Most of the websites for help are geared towards men. Does anyone know of any sites for girls? I'm desperate to be free?

I received this question yesterday, and it raises a valid point. Because the majority of people who struggle with porn are male, the majority of help resources and books are written for them. But this must be alienating for the many women out there who seek advice and support.

To the girl who asked the question, here's a link to some discussions on this site that I hope you will find helpful.

If anybody knows of any specific porn addiction sites for girls, please do highlight them in the comments below. And hopefully we can shed more light on this in future posts. Porn addiction is definitely not just a guy thing!

Update: I've been informed of Dirty Girls Ministries, a Christian anti-pornography ministry created to help women struggling with pornography addiction. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but author Crystal Renaud speaks very passionately about the issue and there is a useful help forum.

Hello, The central point

Hello,

The central point which the vast majority of people completely miss is that when it comes to porn (or internet porn). Is the reasons why anyone turns to using & consuming porn has absolutely 100% nothing to do with your gender. I strongly & sincerely believe that people turn to porn as a means of coping with the pressures & strains of our modern highly stressed life styles, no I'm not making an excuse for using porn.

But I am trying to suggest that porn is one way that many people attempt ( and often fail I might add!!) to deal with difficult emotions caused by pressures in their lives. To summarize porn is used as a coping mechanism just like resorting to drinking or comfort eating or retail therapy is a form of coping mechanism, thus coping applies to women as much as to men (females as much as males) the same psychological & emotional processes apply irrespective of your sexual orientation.

I would like to suggest that

I would like to suggest that unfortunately we live in a dependency culture. Literally everywhere we go these days companies & organizations want us to have a dependent relationship with them, from every shop or store you go into asking if you would like to sign up to their ABC card or Necta card, etc.

The point I'm trying to make here is we live in a society that increasingly wants us to be dependent in one form or another. Our very society & our culture treats us as if we were child like & incapable of saying no! or choosing to remain as independent as possible. The list of potential crutches we could fall for in our society is a long one: Alcohol in one form or another, illegal drugs in one form or another, Smoking, Over eating (eating problems such as comfort eating) Retail therapy i.e. spending money you don't have, Prescription drugs i.e. pain killers, and of course online Porn. These are all ways or mechanisms for coping with our problems (or not as the case may be) coping with a stressful life. Porn dependency is just another form of coping mechanism its no better or worse than any of the other I've already mentioned.

Women are more easily prone to porn addiction than men because their minds are more weaker and they're more visual than men.

Im a guy and m addicted or rather was addicted to it, use to watch it almost EVERY day.... but u know, there comes a point where u have to re define the goals of your life or its purpose. To see what u plan to do, and its definitely not watching porn. So just think about u're life its very helpful.
