Beat internet cravings with LeechBlock
When we’re battling with our internet porn obsession, our attachment to simply being online can be overwhelming. Internet addiction, YouTube fix, wilfing, online procrastination… call it what you will; we might not be oggling porn, but we’re still wasting valuable time surfing the web.
Even guys who have successfully overcome their porn fixation can find themselves wasting too much time online. The surfing instinct never quite goes away; I’ll certainly vouch for that.
So here’s a useful tip for Firefox users: LeechBlock plugin. As the author says, “LeechBlock is a simple productivity tool designed to block those time-wasting sites that can suck the life out of your working day.”
LeechBlock is simple enough to install and configure, but also flexible enough to cover various scenarios. Specific sites can be limited to, say, 10 minutes a day or 5 minutes in every hour (ideal for news sites). Or sites can be made only available at the weekend.
Just like using a porn filter, the same justification applies: yes you can uninstall it or fire up Internet Explorer or find other ways around it, but it’s a little bit more hassle. And that little bit of hassle reminds you why you installed it in the first place, and that you would only be cheating yourself.
So a very effective and recommended tool.
